While the first game was a first-person shooter with souls like mechanics, the prequel is vastly different. It sticks to a much more traditional style of RPG gameplay. You fight various monsters and bosses while leveling up and gaining access to new abilities. It is a single-player game consisting of a unique aging mechanic. Each time you die your character ages.
