Pseudo-Yoik (Mäntyjärvi) - Gondwana Singers

At Gondwana Choirs, we’re still singing. Visit to donate Finnish composer Jaako Mäntyjärvi’s playfully impressive work is a parody of archetypal Lapland folk music. The meaningless nonsense syllables which make up the text drive home the composer’s intention to create a humorous impression of a stereotype. Performed as part of 2018’s National Choral School at the Sir John Clancy Auditorium by Gondwana Singers, conducted by Rowan Johnston.
