Employees Of Westinghouse Co. Join Army AKA Westinghouse Workers Join Army (1914-1918)
Manchester.
Parade of Westinghouse employees in streets of Manchester. They are volunteers joining army. Procession lead by an army marching band, workers follow dressed in civilian clothes; winter coats and caps. Westinghouse banner carried at front of line, some wave flags. Groups of several women walk in street alongside the procession and some boys run beside it. Masses of workers keep on pouring out in a seemingly endless long stream, at intervals a soldier in army uniform walks with them. There is a carnival atmosphere amongst the men - seems poignant considering they are marching off to their deaths.
World War One, Military.
Modified WPA record.
