Listen / Download : RELEASE DATE 2023-01-27 CATALOG EMH038 LABEL Eat My Hat Music Stonecities Ziger’s Eat My Hat Music opens the new year by welcoming Stonecites to the label for their debut EP. With a career that spans over two decades Greek artist Nikolas Polytaridis has enjoyed a litany of successes under the monikers Radical Distortion, Synthloverz and Radical Frequencies, the latter of which also serves a modular synthesizer manufacturer which he owns. Perhaps best known for his work in the psy-trance scene, Nikolas now embarks on a new project with fellow countryman Orestis Petroutsopoulos under the alias Stonecities. The duo’s joint vision looks to explore the realms of progressive house and melodic techno with Ziger’s Eat My Hat Music being the vehicle for their first ever release ’Space Cream’. Beginning with ’Afrodite’ the intuitive musical dialogue held between the duo is on full display. Warm free flowing grooves and vibrant percussive arrangements set the foundation for arpeggiated fragments and nostalgic acid lines to work their magic. Looking to bring greater emotional depth, the centerpiece delights with its trance inducing overlays and colourful synth swagger, eventually giving way to a groove-centric drop and suitably poignant finale. Moving forward, the duo masterfully synthesize their talents into one singular brain-bending vision that is ’Space Cream’. Percolating acid lines and muscular grooves work in perfect unison for a strong rhythmic foundation across the first act. Devilish effects and retro chord stabs add further character and depth along the way, perfectly setting up a short but timely final break, before transferring energy into an acid-laced final act.
