a traditional Appalachian folk song. Like most songs from Appalachia they mostly derive from older Celtic folk songs -- oftentimes lost in their original homeland. This song is most common in Irish folk music, which is how I grew up hearing it, until I learned an appalachian version. However, this performance mostly demonstrates what it’s like to have gigged a song so many thousands of times and in so many styles, indie, two-step, hard rock, slow air, a cappella, metal and I believe it’s likely I rapped it at some party if anyone remembers. Anyway, I figured perhaps if I throw it up on YouTube it will release this song from my psyche and give some room to write some new ones. Ain’t that how it works? Tóg a bóg é!
