Shah Rukh Khan by Pan Nalin | Rare Footage |

Never Seen Before footage on megastar Shah Rukh Khan by Pan Nalin Director: Pan Nalin Cinematography: Piyush Shah In the year 1996, 100 young filmmakers from 100 countries were invited to celebrate 100 years of the invention of Cinema and pay tribute to Auguste Lumière and Louis Jean Lumière, popularly known as The Lumiere brothers. Each filmmaker was asked to choose his favorite star from his own country. Pan Nalin was yet to make his first feature Samsara (2002) but his shorts and documentaries were already a global success. During his early years in Mumbai, he directed many TV commercials, and documentaries for Discovery Channel, Nat Geo, BBC, and so on. His passion for cinema and filmmaking drew the attention of American and French producers, and they invited Pan Nalin to make this short. Nalin instantly chose his favorite star Shah Rukh Khan. This film and its footage have never been seen in India before. Besides Shah Rukh Khan there were mega stars Robert De Niro, Sharon Stone, Gong Li, Juliette Binoche, Jackie Chan, Sean Connery among others who paid homage to Lumiere Brothers. In his recent interview with Vaishali Rathod of Times of India Pan Nalin said, ““Each day I was with Shah Rukh Khan, I was awestruck by his talent and humbleness. Wherever we went there were massive crowds, outside his hotel in Rajasthan, on the shoot, at the airport, while we were driving through Mumbai, and even outside his Bandra home; but he never showed a sign of fatigue towards his fans. Shah Rukh worked extremely hard, clocking in almost 18 hours of shoot everyday, and I never saw him lose his focus that he was here to entertain. While watching him work every day, as a filmmaker the greatest life lesson I learned from Shah Rukh was that a great actor is not one who can dance, romance, laugh and cry but the great actor is one who makes the audience dance, romance, laugh and cry.” Pan Nalin, an award-winning filmmaker known for his innovative themes, original cinematic styles, and one of the rare Indian filmmakers who enjoys global commercial success beyond the diaspora. His latest feature Last Film Show (Chhello Show) was shortlisted for the Best International Feature at the 95th Oscars. It was the first Indian movie in twenty-two years to make it to the Oscars’ shortlist since Lagaan in 2001. Last Film Show in its 3rd week, is currently playing in Cinemas across Japan. It will also be released in Italy, France and South America this summer. In 2003, Nalin came into the global limelight with SAMSARA a massive success worldwide, won thirty awards including Grand Jury Prize at AFI. Known for cult classics VALLEY OF FLOWERS, and ANGRY INDIAN GODDESSES, Pan Nalin is a member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscars) in its prestigious Director’s Branch and The Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma in France (Cesar). #shahrukhkhan #pannalin #karanarjun #salmankhan
