Georgia Holt, Singer and Mother of Cher, Dies at 96 | Georgia Dies at 96

On June 9, 1926, Georgia Holt was born. She was a singer, songwriter, actress, and model from the United States. She was also the mother of Cher, who sings and acts. Holt sang on a radio station in Oklahoma City when she was six years old, and by the time she was ten, she was singing with bandleader Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. In the 1950s, she won several talent and beauty contests and had a few small roles on TV and in movies. Holt and Cher went on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Ellen DeGeneres Show together in 2013 to promote the documentary Dear Mom, Love Cher and Holt’s album Honky Tonk Woman.
