This is an easy way to be introduced to the very simple sculpting tools in 3ds Max, and to generate something more interesting for your terrain than a simple plane. If you continue in the course you will see how we will add all sorts of photo scanned elements, tree / plant models, all sorts of scatters, etc. to make this a much more exciting 3d environment. Of course we will also learn to create dynamic environment lighting, atmospherics, etc.
