Today we’re answering a question about escaping one of the toughest armlocks in jiu-jitsu: the 3/4 juji gatame. With this armlock variation, there’s so much head control that it can be difficult to manage using conventional defenses. At first it seems like it should be EASIER than a regular armlock, but you’ll quickly find that classic methods of escape like rolling out or bridging up to the knees to stack are much harder with this version of the armlock. We talk about WHY it’s so much harder to escape, and then one of the best ways out. Caveat: this is a late-stage defense that relies on movement, timing and YES - extending the arm. It takes some practice to get the pieces together, but when you do you’ll have a good option for escape. ⭐ ➡️ MY BIO (by John Danaher): === Like this video?
