Building a Captured Type 5 Chi-Ri Prototype (Fine Molds 1/35)
Medium tank Type 5 Chi-Ri was a Japanese tank developed late during World War 2. Designed to be more powerful than the U.S. M4 Sherman, it was basically a Japanese Panther.
One prototype was partially finished and tested by the end of the war, and was captured by the occupation forces and shipped to USA for evaluation at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. Its fate is unknown, but it was most likely scrapped.
There are a few photos showing this tank with its gun missing, and that’s exactly what we’re gonna be replicating in this video.
The 1/35 kit from Fine Molds is overall very nice, with high quality molds, but it’s the overly complicated tracks that rule this kit out as a quick weekend build.
