Dave Sleight recreates the unprecedented inter-species race between a greyhound and a miler pigeon. This extraordinary race happened at the Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium in 2001, and was broadcasted globally by Sky Sports. William Hill were the selected bookmakers and had the odds at 10/11 for either animal to win. In this short film, you will get exclusive insight into how Dave trained the animals to race against each other, as well as the race itself. There is also an unsuspecting incident during the production, which had us all on tenterhooks. The miler pigeon is known as ’Swift Nick’, bred from Eric Pickersgill’s champion miler pigeon named ’Turpin.’ The rag whippet is known as ’Quick Silver’ bred by Dave Sleight. Former bare knuckle champion Dave Radford is representing Swift Nick and Dave Sleight is representing Quick Silver. This battle only has one winner... 120 yard dash.. who do you think will win?
