Performance 1 July 2017 Afrobeat is experiencing a revival, thanks to contemporary club DJs who boast the dance floor with the energetic mix of funk, african highlife and jazzblazers. Parts Sosimi is a leading figure within this music style that originated in Nigeria. He was a keyboardist and musical director in Afrobeat founder Fela Kuti’s band and in the band of his son, Femi Kuti’s Positive Force (AF Hertme 2004). He also performed with Afrobeat’s ’drum king’ Tony Allen (at AF Hertme 2013). In 1995, Dele Sosimi moved to London, where he shared his Afrobeat knowledge with countless musicians and students.
