Japanese calligraphy inspiration for mark making and stitching

In this video, I share my love for Japanese calligraphy called Shodo, which translates to “the way of artistic hand writing or “beautiful writing and is done with black ink and a calligraphy brush. I find deep inspiration in this ancient way of writing and love to learn about it and soak it in and find it inspires my stitching and mark making practices. I share vintage Japanese calligraphy books that I have collected along with the wonderful book called, “Shodo: The Quiet Art of Japanese Zen Calligraphy, Learn the Wisdom of Zen Through Traditional Brush Painting“ by Shozo Sato.
