’NASA’s Perseverance Mars Rover Sends Back First Images From Red Planet’ A one-tonne spacecraft has become the second NASA rover to touch down on Mars after a perilous six-month journey through space. In the first pictures transmitted from its landing site in the Jezero crater, the rover - named Perseverance - appeared to be in “great shape“ and will now begin its mission, collecting rock samples to be analysed for signs of ancient microscopic life.
