French Farmers Clash With Police, Demand Macron’s Ouster At Green Farming Rules Protest In Paris
A group of French farmers stormed into a major Paris farm fair ahead of a planned visit by President Emmanuel Macron on February 24. French farmers have been protesting restrictive EU environmental regulations, as well as rising costs and taxes. At one point, a violent fight broke out, with the farmers, fair staff members and police pushing and kicking each other. Facing dozens of police officers inside the trade fair, the farmers were shouting and booing, calling for the resignation of Macron. According to the head of the Paris force, Laurent Nunez, French Police arrested six people and eight officers were hurt in the violence. The protest came after Macron met French farmers’ union leaders over breakfast. Watch the video to find out more.
