How to: Crochet Skull Beanie

Inspiration for this skull was from a decal on the back of a doggie coat in Wal-Mart’s pet isle. Original tutorial with a different ending is on my Facebook page. (Also under Skitz Stitch) Headband in multiples of 8sts (join with slst; 80 fits me best) Note: the band can be made any way you prefer, whether it be half-doubles, doubles, rib pattern, puff stitch, knitted or crocheted, etc. It’s by your preference. Ch 4, dc in same st, dc in next 3sts, ch 4, slst into same st as last dc, slst over next 5 sts. Repeat all the way around. Loosely slst up into first ch4 space, loosely ch 1. 2 sc in first ch4 space, sc in first dc, ch 2, sc in last dc, sc around second ch4 space, ch 2. Repeat all the way around. Slst into first sc of the round. Ch 5, dc into ch2 space, ch 4, sc into last sc of previous round, 2 sc around ch2 space, sc into second sc of previous round. Repeat (using ch 4) all the way around. Slst into ch5 space, sc, 5 hdc (all in first ch5 space). 5 hdc, sc, slst (all in second ch5 space). Slst over 3x to next skull. Repeat all the way around. When back at the first skull of the round, slst up the side of the eye 3x (the slst, the sc, and the first hdc). Ch 1. 8 hdc along the top of each skull. Repeat all the way around. (Or 6 hdc along the top of each skull, ch 2 between each skull.) Join with a slst at the beginning of the round. At this point, you’ll chain four and start the pattern again, at least three rows of skulls. Finish off any way you choose and you have a beanie made of skulls.
