UNPAINTABLE: A Dance Film by Michelle Sorensen, Music by Tsar B

This idea has been brewing for a solid 6 months now, but I never could have imagined it would turn out like this. Divine intervention is real. I don’t feel like I was alone in creating this piece out at the flats. I’m still in awe of the experience. Something flowed through me that I’ll never forget. I had heard “Unpaintable“ early last year with no consequence. It hit VERY differently as I listened again a few months later. Imagery flooded my mind and began to keep me up at night. So I started planning. Storyboards, costume ideas, paint colors, props. It was hard to make final decisions because I felt nothing would do the idea justice. There is only so much planning one can do before creation must begin. The mood was set as we arrived at the flats, and this film would not have turned out the same without EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of weather being what it was. The fabric needed the wind. The sky needed the clouds. The dust on the flats added to the drama and vastness of the landscape. As we had to do this in one
