The Communicative Approach Basics

My short lecture on the basics of the Communicative Approach that came as result of Hyme’s “Communicative Competence“ (1966) that went a way beyond Chomsky’s limited focus on “Competence“ (1965). I go through the definition of the Communicative Approach, its usefulness for learners, and the types of materials and activities that can be used within the framework of this approach, and some concrete suggested steps to use it in teaching and learning.
