Today’s subject is the guitar we mentioned in last night’s Instagram post: the Squier Classic Vibe ’70s Telecaster. We have a lot of love for this superb, affordable electric, and one quick listen to the tones achieved in this video, should quickly explain why. A poplar body, maple C-profile neck together with a pair of excellent, articulate Fender-designed Wide-Range humbucking pickups, makes these guitars sound far more substantial than you might assume. Great aesthetics - with that Strat-style headstock, oversized pickguard and skirted amp knobs - adds some aesthetic flair to the whole package. And we played through some very serious gear here, too. Plugging into a Fender 1964 Deluxe, with an upgraded Tone Tubby Purple Haze Alnico hemp cone speaker, the tones are rich, musical and chimey.
