“I am very proud to be credited as a producer on the Palestinian movie LYD which will premiere at Harvard today. LYD is a beautiful film about a beautiful place. I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time and saw its conception, now it is born. I celebrate with the whole team but most of all with LYD herself. She is symbolic of our mother earth and we the people love her.“ LYD is a sci-fi documentary made by a Palestinian from LYD and a Jewish American. It provides much needed context for this moment, because it goes deep into the history of the Nakba (dispossession of Palestinians from their lands in 1948) from the perspective of Palestinians who survived the Nakba and using never-before seen archival footage of Israeli soldiers who committed the massacre and expulsion in LYD. Through vivid animations, it also imagines an alternate reality where Palestine was never occupied and Palestinians of all religions (Muslims, Christians and Jews) live in a liberated Palestine.
