Introduction of new Series: Indonesia under Dutch rule in 1926 in color! [A.I. enhanced & colorized]

This is the introduction video to a new series in 7 parts about Indonesia under Dutch rule just before WW-II. The original title was: “Tropisch Nederland, Indië“. The Dutch used the name “Indië“ (or “Oost Indië“) for this colony, not to be mistaken with “India“. This footage contains stunning footage of various trips through the jungles of New Guinea, Borneo, Java, Bali and other parts of Indonesia. It gives a very good impression of daily life and the many ancient rituals that often are accompanied by mesmerizing dances. The Dutch presence in this part of the world already began in the 16th century, during which the VOC (Verenigde Oostindische Company) traded many produce of the islands, especially herbs and spices. During WW-II Indonesia The Netherlands surrendered Indonesia to the Japanese on 8 March 1942. About 42,000 Europeans were made prisoner of war (POW). At the end of WW-II the Dutch did not have enough military power to restore their presence and dominance over these islands. The indonesians started a war for independence. Eventually, under pressure of the UN, lead by the US, the Netherlands gave in and Indonesia became independent on 27 December 1949. Far more information (in Dutch) can be found here: ë Every week we will release the next part of this series! Currently we are still searching for part-6 of this series, so if you can help, please do! The original film footage has been meticulously motion-stabilized, speed-corrected, restored, enhanced and colorized by means of modern Artificial Intelligence video software. Source: Beeld En Geluid Music: various. Due to problems with Youtube this series of 7 episodes has been moved to my RicksFilmRestoration channel. One of the problems are the scenes with topless natives. Episode-1: Episode-2: Episode-3: Episode-4: Episode-5: Episode-6: Still missing. Please help to find this! Episode-7: Episode-8: UPDATE: In view of Youtube’s rigorous policies, these 8 episodes are no longer hosted on Youtube. They can be viewed via my RicksFilmRestoration channel on See: Some of these episodes contain short shots of innocent playing native nude children which Youtube considers to be “preditor sexual behaviour“. Apparently in todays world, showing the World simply how it was from a historic perspective nearly a century ago, sadly is no longer possible.
