Unused / unissued material - dates and locations unclear or unknown. Title reads: “Happy Americans on their way home from Jap Prisons“. American newsreel. Various shots of Swedish ocean liner Gripsholm coming into Rio harbour, Brazil. American civilians disembark from ship, they have been prisoners of war in Japan for the last two years. Amongst the POWs are a man of 88 and nun. Several POWs give interviews, they are: Mr and Mrs Karl Mydans of Life Magazine, Mr. EF Hartnet of the Shanghai Telephone Company and 8 year old George Desenberg. George’s mother died in China, he does not know where his father is in the US. He smiles at camera and says “Daddy, won’t you please come and get me“.
